Shannon Murphy - The Universe, Yours to DiscoverThis is a featured page

Shannon Murphy is the lead for the University of Michigan LS&A Theme Semester on Astronomy. She spoke to us about the many ways in which Second Life can support real life instruction, especially concepts that are difficult to visualize in real life (such as lunar eclipses and the phases of Venus). She proposed a number of ways in which to use Second Life to engage students in a better understanding of the impact of astronomy in our daily lives and culture. Shown here is an image of a new astronomical mythology of Second Life in which she proposes the first Second Life constellation.
