Wolverine Grand Opening - What do YOU think?

This is a synopsis of the meeting 08-08-08. Please add your thoughts.WHERE: Wolverine Island & UM-AA Campus WHEN: Fall Term, September or early October WHY: Raise awareness of Wolverine Island activities and resources in UM community. WHO: - Faculty - Students - Alumni Especially those affiliated with UM but not affiliated with Wolverine Island: WHAT needs to happen beforehand: - improve method of joining community / access to Wolverine - have public landing area for people who have not yet joined - enrich SL skills tools and resources for new folk - enrich UM themed garments and souvenirs - organize team to assist new faculty / students in RL during Fall Term - marketing - Facebook, other social media, traditional media HOW - EVENT: Ideas and concepts shared so far. - combined RL/SL event - RL computer labs with SL functionality open house - host southeast Michigan (SEMI) SL Meet-up on campus - RL locations to watch SL activities (pipe to campus video?) - Viral/social marketing device which gives info on Wolverine and how to join community - Library exhibit - Video of SLUM activities - Use educational themes in event (1-Astronomy, 2-"Urban University") - SL Field Trips / Top 10 Lists - Activities for Student Engagement (treasure hunt, road rally, games, educational freebie stations, tours) - Presentations by folks currently engaged in Wolverine, highlight current activities 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Here are some ideas people suggested for a freebie for folks in the Wolverine community and to give away. The idea is to help find UM alumni around SL by having something interesting and engaging that can help get the word out that we are here!- a Wolverine HUD, perhaps a customized or branded version of the SaLamander search tool, with useful information - a Wolverine TINY avatar - a Wolverine FURRY avatar - a UM sculpture for SL, animated, interactive and cool, maybe a SL-ified version of the cube? - freebie BellTower that would actually tell time for folks to set on their land What other ideas do you folks have? - Patricia / Lexi Do you find this valuable? |
